Please imagine there was an exhibit show. The show was organised in a building with multiple counters inside. Visitor coming to the exhibit must register at the register desk before entering to the exhibit. At register desk, a nice receptionist created a tag for visitor to wear on his dress. By wearing this tag during the visit, when the visitor came to the counters, the counters knew who he is.
Now we try to make a map:
exhibit = a website (multiple web pages provided by an organise)
counters = the web pages inside the website
tag = cookies
By the mapping, you may have a concept of cookies. Now I summary it as below:
- Cookies are pieces of information which are transferred across your PC and the web server during your browsing the web pages. Web pages can recognise who you are, and what you did, which selected options you had chosen to serve you in the certain way. In fact, cookies are used for registering your authentication, remembering your chosen options and tracking your behaviour.
You may in doubt what I say about the 'tracking behaviour', but it is real. Please imagine that if the visitor's tag had been marked an info and the staff recorded info in his log book when he visit each counter, the exhibit staffs knew which counters the visitor had been and what he concerned when he moved to the next counter.
